What’s the deal with Facial Oils?

While a common conception is that the main role of a face oil is to hydrate the skin, in recent years they have caught up with their serum counterparts in offering a powerful cocktail of vitamins and antioxidants. For example, KICHI FOREVER OIL contains a blend of 7 rare cold pressed oils with omega 3-6-9 fatty acids, to boost the skin’s natural regeneration process.

This makes it a powerful anti-aging ally, with studies showing an oil of just 2% Tsubaki oil concentration reversed the appearance of 10% of wrinkles. KICHI FOREVER OIL contains 8% Tsubaki oil, which is the highest possible concentration for its high antioxidant ratio.

Not to mention, when it comes to hydration, high grade plant oils can be superior to (and even used instead of) a moisturiser. This is because some moisturisers come heavily loaded with inexpensive crude oils and glycerin and very little seed oils. While certain plant oils are able to protect the barrier with natural ceramides. Nonetheless, it’s important to always follow with a 30-50 broad-spectrum SPF.

Many of our clients tell us that they have avoided dry oils in the past, falsely believing that they break everybody out. This may be the case for poorly formulated and inexpensive formulas, or those without non comedogenic oils, but the industry has come a long way in recent years.

Innovative scientific developments allow luxury oils to deliver benefits comparative with a high-strength vitamin infusion, sinking into the skin like a moisturiser-serum hybrid. This is a result of their high concentration of vitamins, antioxidants, fatty acids, and ceramides, reaping benefits such as reducing trans-epidermal water loss and inducing procollagen synthesis.

And these are not the only benefits, a high-quality oil blend can improve the application of foundation by creating a smooth base, give the skin an instant, youthfully dewy glow, and even be used for dry cuticles, lips, and hands.

A final myth to dispel is that all face oils create pigmentation. Yes, those with essential oils may provoke pigmentation dermatitis and acne, which is why here at KICHI our FOREVER OIL is formulated without essential oils and perfumes. Although scented products can be pleasant for the senses, they can do more harm than good for many skin types.

KICHI Founder Natasha explains: “Personally I don’t use a moisturiser as I feel my Forever oil does a much better job at hydrating my skin, I’m not a fan of crude oil, glycerin, and squalane oil that’s often found in moisturising creams and lotions. That’s not to say there’s anything wrong with these ingredients, I just prefer a high-grade oil which is packed with vitamins, nutrients and essential fatty acids. which will feed my skin and combat fine lines and wrinkles”

When using FOREVER OIL, she recommends a full pipette for your winter routine (morning and night) and just half a pipette during the summer. For oily skin, reduce to a quarter pipette as necessary.
