We couldn’t have a blog series on natural collagen remodelling without including the Vampire Facial. Carried out at KICHI by our resident aesthetic Doctor, Dr Hennah, in this instalment we look at what’s involved, and what benefits this celebrity-favourite facial can bring to your anti-aging regime.
The science behind the Vampire Facial
The Vampire Facial stimulates a healing response by using platelets from your own blood. Not as scary as it sounds (and we also don’t carry it out in the dark!), it involves our doctor taking a sample of your blood – not dissimilar to what you might experience in a blood test – before using a centrifuge to separate it out.
These platelets are rich in growth factors, which when injected into the face essentially tell the brain an “injury” has been sustained and therefore help is needed in the formation of new collagen. This then encourages cell turnover, creating the optimum foundation for skin that radiates with renewed, youthful qualities.
Non-surgical and with little downtime, the beauty of the Vampire Facial is it harnesses your skin’s own regenerative processes, rather than relying on unnatural substances. Recommended for overall skin maintenance, the results can last anywhere from 6 months to up to a year.
